Melwood’s Charity Car Donation Management Services offer best-in-class call center and reporting services to charities across the country. For over 12 years, we’ve operated one of the most successful car donation programs on the East Coast, processing over 200,000 vehicle donations. In 2001, we partnered with an organization in Norfolk, Virginia to manage their newly established car donation program. A few years later, we did the same for an organization in Atlanta, Georgia.
Today, we offer management services to a number of charities throughout the continental U.S. such as Susan G. Komen for the Cure and its 85 affiliates; more than 225 national chapters of The Arc of the United States; United Cerebral Palsy and it’s over 100 affiliates; National American Business Clubs and AMBUCS with over 130 chapters. We continue to expand this service in support of the people with differing abilities that we serve.
Our primary goal is to assist any not-for-profit agency, regardless of size, in building an efficient system to accept car donations from any state.
What makes our program so unique? There are many car donation programs, most offered by commercial companies. Typically, these programs charge in excess of 30% of the net earnings. Our flat rate management fee allows charities to receive a greater return on all sold vehicles.

Turn-key car donation program
Vehicle donations made to our charities are tax deductible. We have also verified each IRS 501c (3) designation. The best practice is to consult with a tax professional on how to maximize your tax deduction since every car donation and tax situation is unique. In general, the IRS limits the tax deduction to the gross proceeds from the sale of the car, truck, or other vehicle. Charitable contributions must be itemized on Schedule A of Form 1040 to qualify. If the gross proceeds exceed $500, Form 1098C “Contributions of Motor Vehicles, Boats, and Airplanes” and Form 8283 "Noncash Charitable Contributions", must also be completed and attached. Forms 1098C and 8283 are required to be provided to the donor within 30 days of the sale of the vehicle.
