We work to meet CIMS Green Building standards so that our LEED Certified buildings are able to earn points toward certification because of the way we do our work. The training model put forward by Melwood is tied directly to our mission of training to the disciplines of green cleaning, keeping our responsibility to our LEED clients at the forefront of our work.
We have a site-specific model that takes the individual processes and breaks them into easily performed tasks. Each custodian is trained in 1-2 proficiencies. Not only does this deliver a better outcome, but the opportunity for guessing at the operation of an unfamiliar task is eliminated. Our belief is that successful custodial programs have eliminated the guesswork in daily processes. Employees are trained and tested in all areas of green cleaning prior to task assignment. The management team at Melwood has previously consulted with the U.S. Green Building Council on three projects: two in California, [VSP (Platinum) NEC (Silver)] and the U.S. Courthouse in Cincinnati, Ohio [LEED -EB (Silver)]. Our employees also possess various security classifications including secret and top secret clearances. Some of our largest contract sites include the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis and the Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland.
