The coronavirus pandemic has impacted our lives in an unprecedented way and made all aspects of our lives more challenging. Now, more than ever, it is critical to support each other so we can come out of this as a stronger community. From the beginning of the pandemic, Melwood’s primary focus has been the health and safety of our employees, participants, their families and the communities we serve.
We are pleased to join forces with Friendship Charities, Inc., a nonprofit primarily serving Prince George’s County, to provide hundreds of family meal kits, hand sanitizer, and important career and health resources to Melwood employees and participants and the greater Prince George’s County community. On Saturday, June 13, please visit our Dower House Campus if you are in need of assistance.
PLEASE NOTE: We reserved 30 minutes for Melwood employees, participants and their families ONLY before the public distribution. From 10:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. please use the main entrance and proceed straight to the employee parking area behind the Main Administration Building and the Kell Building to pick up your donations. Employees will be asked to show their Melwood ID.
If you miss that early distribution, you can still come from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. when we will distribute to the general public. This pick-up will take place in the Cul De Sac of Old Pike Way near the CTC building. All transactions will follow CDC guidelines – volunteers will wear gloves and masks and they will place the donation box in the trunk of the cars.
Please feel free to share this information with your family and friends. We will have hundreds of food boxes to hand out but this will be first-come, first-served while supplies last.
