Community Services Update

March Madness

On Friday, March 18th, the Day Services program hosted a special March Madness event for our clients. Participants were split into two teams for a mix of fun activities like free-throw contests, basketball drills, and 5-on-5 games! Some participants even took on the role as cheerleader. For those individuals who were not physically able to participate, they had the opportunity to either play a game of basketball using a Wii system, or participate in a culinary arts class discussing healthy snacks such as granola bars, yogurt, oranges and more. The weather turned out to be perfect, and everyone had a great time. 

Women’s History Month Celebration

In March, we celebrated Women’s History month. Each year, organizations highlight the many contributions women have made to society. On March 4th,  our Day Services team hosted an event to celebrate women who have left their mark on history. The celebration was open to all Melwood participants and employees. Event hoss Michelle Williams, and Antonio Martin, introduced guest speakers Sheila Hampton and Janice Jackson, who delivered empowering messages that were enjoyed by everyone in attendance. Many thanks to the staff and volunteers who made this event a success. 

Horticulture Therapy Plant Sales

If you haven’t stopped by the greenhouses on our Dower House campus lately you’re missing out! The seasonal plants are blooming and program participants are enjoying a burst of color and fragrance as they work hard to prepare for the April Plant Sales. Check out our upcoming events:
