The month of February is a special time for Melwood.
In observance of Black History month, Melwood participants celebrated the life and accomplishments of many literary greats. Each program location crafted enriching activities in honor of one iconic pioneer. At Melwood’s Dower House Campus, participants celebrated Maya Angelou. They performed a special reading of Phenomenal Woman, a popular poem released by Angelou in 1978, and performed an extraordinary ritualistic dance.
In addition to recognizing Black History month, each program location hosted a special celebration in honor of love and friendship on Valentine’s Day. The event featured raffled candy gift baskets, candy grams, music, and a delectable cake - provided by their Direct Support Professionals.
