Melwood’s President and CEO, Cari DeSantis; Operation: Tohidu Operations Manager, Mike Norgren and Vice President of External Affairs, Robert Grom visited with Congressman Chris Van Hollen on December 17th to update him on the our latest initiatives. During the meeting they discussed Operation: Tohidu, Melwood’s eRecycling program, and a range of issues impacting Melwood’s differing abilities workforce. They also gave the Congressman a summary of Melwood’s workforce and its economic impact on the community.
Congressman Chris Van Hollen represents Maryland’s Eighth District, comprised of the northern region of the Washington, D.C. suburbs towards the Pennsylvania border. His primary focus is to advance job creation and economic growth while reducing the deficit and putting America on a better path for fiscal sustainability. The Congressman showed considerable interest in Melwood’s ability to create new jobs. He was also excited to hear more about our work at the Sidney Yates Building, a Melwood contract site located in his district. We look forward to collaborating with Congressman Van Hollen on future endeavors.
