Giving Thanks

Dear Melwood Family,

In this season of Thanksgiving, we would like to show our appreciation to the dedicated staff and members of the community who work tirelessly in service to Melwood. This year, we have a lot to be thankful for; Melwood has made some amazing advances. 

Earlier this year, we were awarded our first new contract in over three years: Aberdeen Proving Grounds. That Contract will add 11 new jobs and expands the Melwood geographic footprint well into northern Maryland. Late this summer we launched our new electronics recycling program. In just few months Melwood created 23 new job opportunities for people with differing abilities through that program. Last week, we launched Operation: Tohidu, a new program providing experiential rehabilitation and therapeutic recreation for a growing population of wounded warriors living with post-traumatic stress. We are very pleased with the success we achieved in the first cycle and I am confident that Operation: Tohidu will make an enormous impact on the veteran community. As we continue to expand these initiatives and implement the Melwood strategic plan, expect even greater achievements in the coming years.

This is a remarkable time for Melwood and next year will be even more spectacular! These achievements and those to come would not be possible without the support of each and every one of you. Melwood is very fortunate to have a dedicated workforce and community support. Many of you have served this organization for years. IT is because of you that Melwood has grown to become on of the leading no-profits in Maryland, providing employment, job training, life skill improvement and recreation to thousands of people with differing abilities.

As we prepare to celebrate this treasured holiday deeply rooted in the tradition of giving thanks, we extend our sincere gratitude to our Melwood friends, family, and staff for your continued support and commitment to Melwood’ s mission.
