December was filled with holiday cheer as a number of our programs celebrated the season. At the Dower House campus, Horticultural Therapy Program participants enjoyed holiday craft projects where they created ornaments and other decorations from natural materials. Some enjoyed creating snowy owls, while others focused on holiday centerpieces and snowmen. On December 18th, Melwood held a Secret Santa Event and Holiday event for our persons served at each of our program locations. Attendees arrived in holiday inspired attire to enjoy festive music, light refreshments, seasonal games and a fun gift exchange! It was heartwarming to see all of the smiling faces and hear what they wished for Christmas.
The Recreation Center also held its annual Deck the Stalls event on December 19th. Friends, family and members of the community gathered at the barn for cookies, hot chocolate and a fun gift exchange. All in attendance had a great time, especially the children who enjoyed a special visit from Santa.
Melwood's Dower House campus hosted a holiday food drive and delivered a total of 60 food donations from staff to the Capital Area Food Bank.
