UPPER MARLBORO, MD - January 22, 2014 - Melwood’s President and CEO, Cari DeSantis, recently paid a visit to the organization's custodial team at the United States Coast Guard. During her visit, Cari had the opportunity to meet several employees at the Coast Guard and observe their current project: Cleaning the United States Coast Guard Cutter Seneca.
The USCGC Seneca is a 270 FT vessel used for various military duties. It is the sixth of thirteen 270' Famous Class Cutters.
Melwood has been contracted to clean the military vessel for the past 2 years. A team of 11 custodial workers, led by Project Manager Evan Hill, are tasked with cleaning the vessel in approximately 10 days.
Assistant Project Manager, Andre Walters, gave Melwood's leadership a tour of the military vessel this week.
Cari was on hand to observe the custodial teams' hard work.
"The custodial team provides high quality custodial services in a very limited timeframe at the Coast Guard." said DeSantis. "I was truly impressed by their leadership and work ethic."
Once the custodial team finalizes the janitorial services on USCGC Seneca they will immediately turn their focus to another project with the Coast Guard. The team is comprised of seasoned members of Melwood's workforce. A large percentage of those working on the contract are veterans with differing abilities.
