Melwood recently obtained three leading national certifications in the recycling industry. We have officially secured the Responsible Recycling (R2) Standard, ISO 14001, and OSHAS 18001 certifications.
The ISO 14001 is an internationally accepted standard that defines the requirements for establishing, implementing, and operating an Environmental Management System. This framework will allow Melwood to consistently control its significant impacts on the environment, reduce the risk on pollution incidents, ensure compliance with relevant environmental legislation, and continually improve our processes and operations.
The OHSAS 18001:2007 is an internationally accepted standard that defines the requirements for establishing, implementing, and operating an Occupational, Health & Safety (OHS) Management System. This framework allows Melwood to consistently control its hazards and reduce the risk of accidents, injuries, and down time.
The R2 Standard is a way for Melwood to identify, aggregate, distribute, and monitor best practices. The R2 Standard creates market incentives for recycling facilities to implement environmental, health, and safety procedures that directly benefit their workers, communities, and environment. With this framework, Melwood will be able to avoid “reinventing the wheel” by providing consistent knowledge and guidance for electronics repair and recycling.
