UPPER MARLBORO, MD, December 11, 2019 – For more than 50 years, Miracle on 23rd Street has ushered in the holiday season for the Crystal City and Aurora Highlands neighborhoods and the time-honored tradition returned this year on Friday, December 6.
More than 400 neighbors and families from across the area kicked off the holiday season with Miracle’s festive community tree lighting and pictures with Santa and Mrs. Claus who arrived at the event on an Arlington County firetruck courtesy of Fire Station 5. There was food, face painting, cookie decorating, and an exciting new virtual reality experience. Melwood also announced a new partnership with the Arlington Food Assistance Center and collected canned goods to help families in the Arlington region.
Melwood, one of the leading nonprofit employers of people of differing abilities and wounded veterans in the Greater Washington D.C. area, hosted the event at their Crystal City campus.
