Each month, Melwood recognizes outstanding employees for their exemplary work and dedication. The following Melwood employees were selected as our November Employees of the Month:
Direct Support Professional
Michael Lumpkins, Development Coach (Nike). Michael is always pleasant and helpful to the individuals and his co-workers. He makes sure that individual needs are meet first. Michael goes the extra mile to help individuals that are having a bad day, just sitting down and conversing with them until they feel better. All of his co-workers enjoy working with him. He is a wonderful team player at Melwood.
Grounds Maintenance
Kelly Burrows, Grounds Foreman (NSWC and Town Hall of La Plata). Kelly runs a crew of four people with differing abilities doing landscape and mowing. Kelly has been at Melwood for eleven years. She is very dedicated, hard worker, and always goes above and beyond. All of her sites look great and the customers cannot say enough good things about her and the crew. In addition to being a Grounds Foreman she also works for transportation, picking her crew up from their homes, then dropping them at their work locations, and at the end of the day, taking them back to their homes.
Other Facilities Management Operations
Jesse Crews, Heavy Equipment Mechanic Lead (Ft Meade). Jesse has been a part of the team since the beginning of the BASOPS Contract. He is the Heavy Equipment Mechanic Lead. Mr. Crews is always going above and beyond the requirements of his position to assist in meeting the Melwood mission at Ft. Meade. Mr. Crews’ knowledge and training keeps the equipment in top operating condition, as he is also the department’s training lead. His organizational and personal skills are second to none and noted by the staff and the Ft. Meade customer. It is truly a pleasure to have him as a valued member of the team and he is respected by all.
Custodial Employee
Karen Bush, Lead Custodian (USSS). Karenhas outstanding performance in her work ethics and dedication. As a lead worker, Karen makes sure that all staff members get their fair share in the workload, helps assist those in need and commends the staff on their good work. Karen meets requirements and deadlines and makes sure there are no outstanding work requests. She checks in from time to time to see if anything needs to be done. She takes pride in her work and she’s always at work and on time. Karen has been employed by Melwood for many years. During the last three years, she has done an outstanding job in her role as a lead-worker. Karen is very meticulous in her job functions, and always engaged in her work, going the extra mile when necessary. Karen has a good work relationship with various customers and ensures that each request meets contract requirements. Karen sets a great example for the office and has set high standards in the area of job performance.
Shared Service Employee
Joseph (Joe) Klemm, Database Assistant (Dower House). Joe is very diligent with his work. He is proactive, cooperative, and a true team player. Joe gets his work done in a very timely and professional manner; he is friendly, helpful and creative. Joe is our resident DonorPerfect guru and, in that capacity, he’s a great teacher. Furthermore, Joe never turns people away when they need help and he always turns projects around in a very short time span. Joe has also helped his team with labels, reports, missing phone numbers and such. In short, Joe’s a great asset to the team, the department and Melwood.
