In November 2014 Melwood launched Operation: Tohidu, a program designed to address the specific needs of veterans and military personnel living with PTS(d) or other deployment related trauma. Last month we celebrated the first anniversary of the program and the eight retreat cycles we’ve successfully completed. In just 12 months Operation: Tohidu has helped 150 veterans and active duty personnel begin their journey to recovery.

Our most recent Operation: Tohidu retreat welcomed 19 veterans and active duty personnel. These brave warfighters demonstrated a true commitment to the program and their recovery. Reflection, inspiration and compassion were the themes for various sessions throughout the week. A very special bond was formed between retreat guests, mentors and staff members. One veteran, who had been through 14 therapeutic programs, remarked that Operation: Tohidu is the only program that has had a positive impact on him.

NBC 4 Washington (WRC-TV) also joined us during the November retreat to tape a feature news segment. NBC 4 aired the report during the 6:00pm newscast on November 12th. If you missed the segment feel free to check it out here.
