LARYSA KAUTZ
Larysa Kautz was appointed in March as Chief of Staff at Melwood. Larysa has been with the organization since 2014, serving as chief legal advisor to the President & CEO and the Board of Directors.
In addition to being responsible for the supervision of Melwood’s legal, compliance, risk management, and external affairs functions, Larysa provides general coordinating leadership to all departments working behind the scenes to execute Melwood’s strategic goals, address challenges, and handle day-to-day issues that impact Melwood.
Announced earlier this month, The Daily Record named Larysa one of its 2017 Leadership in Law winners. This award recognizes professional achievement, community leadership, and mentoring.
Larysa was also recently appointed by Virginia Governor, Terry McAuliffe (D), to serve on his State Rehabilitation Council for the Blind and Vision Impaired. The appointment is part of a larger plan to help build a new Virginia economy and create more jobs across the Commonwealth.
Larysa has more than 15 years of experience in law, corporate governance, risk management, government relations, and communications. Prior to joining Melwood, Larysa was a partner at the Schaner & Lubitz, PLLC law firm. Before that, she served as counsel at Bingham McCutchen, LLP. She has also lent her expertise to the Obama Administration and the Foundation for the National Archives as pro bono counsel.
Larysa holds a Juris Doctor (JD) from Yale Law School and a Master of Laws degree (LLM) in the field of taxation from the Georgetown University Law Center. She has been admitted to practice law in New York, Maryland, and the District of Columbia.
CHANTAY P. MOYE
Chantay P. Moye was selected in February to serve as the Director of Marketing & Communications at Melwood. She has nearly 20 years of experience in television media, marketing, communications, and management.
She is responsible for brand recognition, communicating strategies - internally and externally, and telling the many Melwood stories using public relations tactics.
Chantay began her career in the television media industry where she served as Senior Newscast Producer, and then Assignment Editor/Immediate Newsroom Manager at WITN TV, an NBC affiliate. Her most recent background is in health care communications. She has served in various communication and marketing roles at the American Society of Transplant Surgeons, American College of Surgeons, American Academy of Ophthalmology, and American Association of Naturopathic Physicians.
Chantay attended East Carolina University where she obtained a Bachelor of Science in Communications – media studies. She also has a Master’s in Management – Public Relations and Marketing from the University of Maryland University College, a Graduate Certificate in Public Relations, and two certificates in Crisis Management from programs sponsored by the Department of Homeland Security.
Chantay’s volunteer experience includes serving on the boards of the Friends of Takoma, More at Four-No Child Left Behind, and the Governor’s One-on-One Mentoring Program.
