On April 9th, Melwood participated in Rotary District 7620’s Annual District Conference in Baltimore, Maryland. The Annual District Conference celebrates the work of Rotary Clubs in their local communities and around the World. Earl Copus, Melwood’s founding Executive Director, Cleonice Copus, Melwood volunteer, and Robert Grom, VP External Affairs, were on hand to raise awareness about a number of our programs. Attendees had the opportunity to learn more about our vehicle donations program, Operation: Tohidu, and our supportive services programs. The event was a great success and attendees showed a lot of interest in Melwood’s mission and work.
Rotary District 7620 is a strong community partner and supporter of our mission. In their February 2016 newsletter, Rotary 7620 featured our vehicle donation program and their participation in our managed services program. Since July, Melwood has managed the vehicle donation program for 60 clubs under the Rotary District 7620 umbrella. In the article, they reported that more than $2,740 has been raised to support both organizations. Of those funds, $1,221 went to the Rotary clubs, $407 went to the Rotary International Annual Fund, $407 went to Polio Plus, and $712 went to supporting Melwood’s programs
Melwood offers management services to a number of charities throughout the U.S., including Susan G. Komen for the Cure and its 85 affiliates, 128 programs under the Meals on Wheels Association of America umbrella, more than 225 national chapters of The Arc of the United States, United Cerebral Palsy and it’s over 100 affiliates and National American Business Clubs (AMBUCS) with over 130 chapters. We will continue to expand this service in support of the people with differing abilities that we serve.
