UPPER MARLBORO, MD (January 19, 2016) – Sabre Systems, Inc. pledged its commitment to Melwood’s mission with a $10,000 donation in support of the organization’s newest program, Operation: Tohidu. Melwood developed the experiential rehabilitation program in 2014 to help wounded veterans and active duty military members recover from post-traumatic stress, mild to moderate Traumatic Brain injury, and other deployment-related traumas. Approximately 49% of veterans who have seen combat have been diagnosed with PTS(d). In an effort to address this growing epidemic Melwood created a retreat model customized to meet the individual needs of each participant.
“There is no company more committed than Sabre in supporting veterans and military members as they serve our nation and our communities,” said Sabre Systems COO, Glen Ives. “Operation: Tohidu is a unique, proven and highly successful program that we are honored to support. We have physically witnessed the positive and lasting changes in the veterans and military members who have participated.”
Glen Ives joined Sabre Systems in 2008 following a decorated career in the United States Navy. The company, based in Warrington, Pennsylvania, with major offices in Lexington Park, Maryland, Aberdeen, Maryland, Alexandria, Virginia, Lakehurst, New Jersey and Fort Gordon, Georgia, has designated military and veteran support as a central focus of their corporate citizenship. Mr. Ives has served as a keynote speaker at Operation: Tohidu retreats and hosted a special briefing at Sabre highlighting Operation: Tohidu’s approach to addressing the needs of warfighters. He was recently elected Chair of St Mary’s County Chamber of Commerce.
“Sabre Systems is a strong advocate of veteran and military support in the business community,” said Cari DeSantis, President and CEO of Melwood. “Their donation will help Melwood continue to offer this program, at no cost to its participants. We are truly grateful for their dedication to this vital initiative.”
