Dave Covington’s accounting career spans 45 years. He retired from Deloitte & Touche LLP as an Audit Partner responsible for audit quality and risk management across the greater Washington, DC area. His public accounting experience extended to multiple industries including government contractors, property & casualty insurance companies, and nonprofit organizations.
At Deloitte & Touche, he helped 300 audit professionals, including 40 Partners and Directors, navigate complex accounting, auditing, risk, and relationship issues involving both SEC registrants and private organizations.
In addition to his professional responsibilities, Covington has been active as a volunteer with several nonprofit organizations. He recently completed a term as President of the Rappahannock Choral Society and was President of the Robert H. Smith School of Business Alumni Board.
Covington, a native of Prince George’s County, MD, is a graduate of the University of Maryland (College Park). Currently, he teaches advanced accounting courses at the University of Mary Washington in his resident city of Fredericksburg, VA.
