Veterans across the country are struggling with the effects of isolation, anxiety, and prior trauma as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Though in-person Operation Tohidu® retreats are not possible during this time, Melwood Veterans Services is dedicated to generating new and creative ways to support those who have served.
Virtual Operation Tohidu® is an 8 week program for veterans struggling with PTS(d). We have created a program that encompasses the essence of what makes Operation Tohidu® so impactful, within a virtual platform, without recreating it entirely. It is, in essence, a mini/pre Operation Tohidu® where each warrior who completes the program will have priority toward the next live Operation Tohidu® of his/her choice. Each week, we focus on a different theme related to trauma as well as what the warrior might be experiencing during our current situation with the COVID-19 pandemic. We release a video at the beginning of the week and include a coinciding assignment. The assignment is a fun way to encourage introspection, creativity and teambuilding as related to the theme of the week and will provide tools to help guide the warriors toward their own personal progression. We end the week with a live group video chat to discuss the video/assignment, provide support/resources and build comradery amongst the group.
